Whole30, Day 6

Friday mornings at my workplace mean the kitchen will be full of complimentary bagels and assorted pastries. It’s a nice perk for those who count on the delivery for their Friday breakfast; not so nice for people who have to smell the delicious bready scent every time we walk through the room to get to the filtered water (at least I take less trips to the kitchen since I stopped drinking coffee). Luckily, abstaining from bagels and pastries wasn’t something I just started doing this week — I rarely consumed the carb-bombs even before I went gluten free in March.

Paul and I are taking a day-trip tomorrow to an area we refer affectionately refer to as “the boonies of Virginia.” The destination is my younger sister’s house; the event is my nephew Ryder’s 1st birthday party. We will present Ryder with his birthday gift, although I assume he’ll be as excited to see it as he would a large cardboard box. He’ll have fun with it one day, at least!

I would have liked a glass of wine tonight. This is my first Friday night since starting the Whole30 and we often indulge in a glass or two of wine if we stay at home. Dinner was good though, and Paul and I relaxed by watching a few episodes of Breaking Bad.

Breakfast: 2 hard boiled eggs, 1 meatloaf muffin

Lunch: Sausage with braised cabbage, roasted veggie medley (Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower)

Snack: 2 meatloaf muffins

Dinner: Stir-fry with chicken breast, sliced sausage, broccoli, mushrooms, spinach, garlic, and a Tbsp each of fish sauce, coconut aminos, and apple cider vinegar. Paul ate his over rice but I consumed the goodies by themselves.

(Reminder: I’m following the Whole30 for the month of July. Here’s why.)
