Whole30, Day 7

My nephew Ryder’s 1st birthday party was a lot of fun. Paul and I left home around 9am and didn’t return until 830pm, so it was a long day as well (that includes a 1.5-2 hour drive each way to the party destination).

Just as I expected, I stayed inside most of the day due to the heat (but so did everyone else). The only time I went outside was to take photos of the guys in the bouncy house. This is Paul, my brother Isaac, and Ryder:

I jumped around for a few minutes myself, but I could only handle being outside for about 5 minutes before I ran back to the house.

Staying on my eating plan wasn’t difficult at all. I’d actually brought some food along, just in case, but I didn’t end up eating it. My mom brought some cooked squash from her garden, specifically for me. I contributed a bunch of strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi to make a colorful fruit bowl, so I snacked on those. And once the grill was fired up, I ate two bun-less hamburgers dipped in mustard.

My sister made Ryder a firetruck cake (his father is a fireman)…

…and Ryder very much enjoyed his new wagon.

Breakfast: Scrambled eggs and chicken from Friday night’s stir-fry

Lunch: Squash, fruit (strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi), 2 grilled hamburgers dipped in mustard

Dinner: We ate lunch late, so I heated up several leftover meatloaf muffins around 830pm when Paul and I returned home

(Reminder: I’m following the Whole30 for the month of July. Here’s why.)
